What is vaping?
Vaping is the act of inhaling and exhaling vapor from an electronic cigarette or vaporizer. In short, vaping is the equivalent to smoking in the twentieth century. It should also be mentioned that vaping is seen as the healthier alternative to smoking and is thought to be much less damaging on the body’s respiratory system. By some estimates, e-cigarettes are 95% less harmful than cigarettes.
The vapor that is inhaled from an e-cigarette or vaporizer (vape for short), may or may not contain nicotine.
What’s an e-cigarette?
An e-cigarette is the device that produces the vapor inhaled while vaping. It works by heating e-liquid inside the device’s cartridge, turning the liquid into vapor, which then delivers the nicotine and flavors inside the e-liquid.
Does vaping smell?
The exhalation of vapor can produce a smell. Some e-cigarettes produce no smell at all while others produce a smell similar to the flavor they are designed to have.
How often can I vape?
There are no rules when it comes to vaping. You can vape as often as you’d like. As with all things, your body will tell you when it’s had enough vaping.
What is e-cigarette vapor actually made of? What am I really inhaling?
The vapor produced from e-liquid contains evaporated Propylene Glycol, Vegetable Glycerin, natural flavors, and (if applicable) nicotine. The above-mentioned ingredients make up a third of the vapor’s contents, the remaining 66% is made of water.
How much nicotine is in an e-cigarette?
In vaping devices, nicotine is calculated as a proportion of the e-liquid’s contents. For example, if you had a 10ml bottle of 12mg nicotine, the percentage of nicotine in the bottle would be 1.2%. E-liquids come with a standard level of nicotine strengths, usually in the following dosages: 0mg (zero nic), 3mg, 6mg, 12mg, 18mg, and 24mg.
What is the shelf life of e-liquid?
Most e-liquids have a shelf life of around 1.5 years. Although, if kept in dry environment and out of the sunlight, they can be expected to last longer.
Why is the e-liquid not vaporizing?
Sometimes, the e-liquid in a tank fails to vaporize and can actually enter your mouth. This happens mainly when the coil is over-saturated and the excess e-liquid within the atomiser floods the tank. This process can cause droplets of e-liquid to end up on the lips and in the mouth.
If you do end up with e-liquid on your lips or in your mouth, it is advised to thoroughly wash out your mouth with water.
Is vaping cheaper than smoking?
Yes, on average vaping is cheaper than smoking. Some estimates place vaping to be 50-90% cheaper than smoking.
How old do you have to be to legally by an e-cigarette?
To purchase any vape product or e-liquid legally, you must be over 21 years of age. Before or during your purchase, you may be asked to verify your age with a driver’s license or passport.
Will vaping help me quit smoking?
Vaporizers and e-cigarettes were designed to help people quit smoking. They have helped a countless number of people quit smoking and choose a safer, less addictive alternative. It should be mentioned that there is no guarantee vaping will help you quit smoking completely. Like anything, quitting smoking takes tremendous willpower. Many people find that the nicotine percentage in vaporizers and e-cigarettes is too low to satisfy a tobacco craving completely.
